Joining as an adult volunteer.

If you are thinking about joining as an adult staff member, please contact the Officer Commanding (OC) of your local squadron. Typically, your first visit to a cadet squadron will involve an informal discussion with the OC about why you would like to join the organisation and what skills you would be able to offer young people. You may also be asked about your previous experiences and what level of time commitment you would be able to offer. All new members of staff serve a three month probation period and must successfully pass a CRB check and additional security clearances. You must also attend a compulsory Staff Development Course which is held periodically in Cardiff.

You do not need to have served in the armed forces or the ATC before, enthusiasm is all we ask for! The amount of time you commit is up to you and your OC. Some adult volunteers pursue uniformed roles in the organisation as either Senior Non-commissioned Officer (SNCO) or Commissioned Officer service. Your OC will be able to advise as to your suitability to apply for such roles.

Many adult volunteers gain much satisfaction for being able to help young people and contributing towards their development and achievement. It also provides great opportunities to develop your personal skills and meet new people in your area.
